The route
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1 Nairobi to Amboseli
Depart Nairobi for Amboseli National Park. Afternoon game drive with the chance of elephants against a Kilimanjaro backdrop.
Day 2 Amboseli to Lake Naivasha
Morning game drive, then drive up into the Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha for the night.
Day 3 Naivasha to Lake Nakuru
A short hop to Lake Nakuru National Park for a game drive in the rhino sanctuary, then overnight near the park.
Day 4 Nakuru to Samburu
A long but scenic drive north across the equator to Samburu, arriving for an afternoon game drive among doum palms along the Ewaso Nyiro river.
Day 5 Samburu to Nairobi
Early game drive to look for the Samburu specials — Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe and gerenuk — then drive back to Nairobi for drop-off.
