The route
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1 Nairobi to the Masai Mara
Pick-up in Nairobi and drive down the Rift Valley escarpment to the Mara. Afternoon game drive on arrival.
Day 2 Full day in the Mara
A full day of game drives with a picnic lunch near the river. In season, your guide heads for the migration crossings.
Day 3 Mara to Lake Nakuru
Drive back across the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru for an afternoon game drive in the rhino sanctuary.
Day 4 Nakuru to Lake Naivasha
A relaxed short drive to Lake Naivasha. Afternoon boat ride among hippos and waterbirds.
Day 5 Naivasha to Nairobi
Drive back to Nairobi for an overnight in the city — a chance to rest, do laundry and reset before the southern leg.
Day 6 Nairobi to Amboseli
Drive south to Amboseli for an afternoon game drive beneath Mount Kilimanjaro.
Day 7 Amboseli to Tsavo East
Continue east to Tsavo East, the land of red elephants. Afternoon game drive along the Galana river.
Day 8 Tsavo East, toward the coast
Morning game drive in Tsavo East, then drive down to the coast, overnighting near the beach.
Day 9 Beach drop-off
Drop-off at your hotel in Diani, Watamu, Malindi or Mombasa. Extend your beach stay for as many nights as you like — tell us when you enquire.
